IEC/EN62471 is a test standard for laser products (including leds) issued by the European Union. It is applicable to all lamps and lamp systems, including leds, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lamps, gas discharge lamps, arc lamps and other lamps and lamps to assess the associated optical radiation hazards of different lamps and lamp systems. It completely replaces the IEC/EN60825 standard on the energy level requirements of LED products, and adds photobiological requirements, including radiation intensity, radiation, etc. In addition, it classifies product hazard levels based on test data, including exemption levels, low-hazard, medium hazard, and high hazard levels. Part of the EU standard EN62471:2008 has been implemented in 2009.09.01, part of the LED EN60825 has been completely invalid since 2010.09.01.

The purpose of IEC/EN 62471 is to assess the optical radiation hazards associated with different lamps and lamp systems, and to completely replace the requirements of the IEC/EN60825 standard on the energy level of LED products, increase the photobiological requirements, including radiation intensity, radiation brightness, etc., and according to the test data, the product hazard classification. Including exempt, low hazard, medium hazard, high hazard. Among them, the EU part of the standard EN62471:2008 has been implemented in 2009.09.01, and the part of EN60825 on LED will be completely invalid in 2010.09.01.

IEC/EN60825 is mainly used to measure the energy of a single wavelength of light.

IEC/EN62471 mainly measures the wide band of light, and calculates the time, Angle, sensitivity and other aspects of the human eye and skin response to light.

IEC/EN 60825-1:2007 is a European Union standard that applies to the safety of laser products emitting laser radiation in the wavelength range 180 nm to 1 mm. Its scope of application only applies to LASER products after September 2010, and the latest version of IEC/EN 60825-1 no longer covers LED lighting products, but needs to be evaluated according to IEC/EN 62471.

4. Judgment of results

1. Continuous light: no danger; Class 1 hazard (low risk); Class 2 danger (medium danger); Category 3 danger (High risk)

2. Pulse lamp: 1) exceed the radiation limit in accordance with 3 categories of danger; 2) The monopulse lamp that does not exceed the radiation limit is in accordance with no danger; 3) Multi-pulse lamps that do not exceed the radiation limit are classified according to the continuous lamp classification method

At present, some low-cost EN62471 appears on the market, and its report still adopts the template of the EN60825 standard: the standard is updated directly to EN62471, and the actual content of the standard is not updated, please be careful.
