Soluble Heavy Metals Testing

The toxicity of heavy metals is related to the type of metal, its physical and chemical properties, concentration, valence state, and form. Heavy metals in different forms have different levels of toxicity. Generally, soluble metals are more toxic than particulate metals. Therefore, the determination of heavy metals is divided into the determination of "soluble" heavy metals and the determination of total heavy metals. The pretreatment of "soluble" heavy metals involves dissolving part of the heavy metals under conditions simulating human gastric acid (0.07 mol/L hydrochloric acid solution), which is a method that can quantitatively convert heavy metals into solution.
