SIRIM (RF) [Malaysia]

SIRIM is the only institution that conducts certifications in Malaysia. Any factory or company can submit an application to SIRIM and undergo an audit and obtain recognition in accordance with the recognized standards under the product certification system. These certifications are voluntary, but in many cases, mandatory certification may be required due to the requirements of government regulations. Many different types of products in Malaysia are required to comply with the requirements of the IECEE CB system. The MS mark and the ST mark are the voluntary and mandatory safety marks respectively for products exported to Malaysia.

 

The following entities are eligible to submit the CB certificate and test report: domestic or foreign manufacturers, or agents authorized by the manufacturer.
The following documents need to be submitted: a copy of the CB certificate and a copy of the CB test report.

  • Scope of Certified Products

    Communication equipment and the following 31 categories of products specified in the "Electrical Equipment Approval Regulations" are required to undergo mandatory type certification and safety certification respectively: plugs (below 15 A), switches and dimmers, sockets (below 15 A), fluorescent lamp holders and starters, ceiling light wire boxes, bayonet lamp holders and multi-way adapters, fluorescent lamps (excluding separately imported lamp tubes), capacitors for fluorescent lamps, ballasts for fluorescent lamps, residual current devices, electric water heaters (including separately imported heaters), hair dryers, table lamps, liquid heating appliances, electric irons, electric shavers, kitchen food mixers, immersion heaters, high-fidelity devices, mosquito repellents, bread toasters, electric fans, televisions, vacuum cleaners, players, washing machines, refrigerators, rice cookers, Christmas lights, household power tools, and wires and cables (with a cross-sectional area of 0.5 to 35 mm²).
    Other products fall within the scope of voluntary certification.
