The latest version of this part of the ISO 8124 standard is ISO 8124-3:2010 updated on May 27, 2010. This part mainly controls the heavy metal content in the accessible materials of toy products. This update did not change the specific limit requirements of the standard, but made the following adjustments at some non-technical levels:

  • The new standard specifies in detail the scope of toy materials to be tested and expands the scope of testing for surface coatings on the basis of the first edition;
  • The new standard adds the definition of "paper and cardboard";
  • The new standard changes the test reagents for oil and wax removal, and the changed reagents are consistent with the latest version of EN71-3;
  • The new standard adds that the uncertainty should be considered when judging whether the quantitative analysis meets the requirements;
  • The new standard modifies the maximum inhalable amount of antimony, changing it from 1.4 micrograms per day to 0.2 micrograms per day.

The specific limit requirements of this part are as follows:

Antimony (Sb)
