  • Overview

Since at the time of the notice release, the software and hardware facilities of the laboratories implementing the IS9873 and IS15644 standards in India were not perfect, and the relevant certification regulations were not clear. After a few months of buffer period, it is now possible to normally accept relevant certifications for toys. Regarding the questions about Indian certification for toys, the following clarifications are made:
1.What exactly should be done and how to do it for toys to enter the Indian market?
According to the notice of the Indian DGFT, toys entering India should obtain a test report issued by a laboratory with the NABL qualification in India according to the standards of IS9873 and IS15644.
2.Which specific toy products are subject to the mandatory BIS test standard?
According to the relevant content of the DGFT notice, the customs codes of the affected toy products are 95030010, 95030020, 95030030 and 95030090.
3.What test contents are included in the Indian BIS standards IS9873 and IS15644?

    IS:9873 (Part 2) – Toy Safety: Part 2 Flammability
IS:9873 (Part 3) – Toy Safety: Part 3 Migration of Specific Elements
