IDA Certification Management Institution: The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore.
Background Information
Since December 15, 2003, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore has simplified the approval procedure for telecommunication equipment in Singapore. Manufacturers no longer need to submit samples to the IDA for testing.
On April 14, 2010, the IDA announced a series of measures to strengthen its telecommunication dealer license and equipment registration framework. These measures have greatly simplified the license and equipment registration process, and have provided greater convenience for licensed telecommunication operators, saving both time and money.
As of April 15, 2010, the IDA has lifted the import control on all telecommunication equipment (excluding prohibited telecommunication equipment or other equipment specified by the IDA). In addition, the validity period of the IDA's Dealer Individual (DI) license has been extended from 1 year to 5 years. The "Enhanced Simplified Equipment Registration (ESER)" will cover a wider range of telecommunication equipment categories, such as cordless telephones.
Legal Basis
Telecommunications Act (Cap.323)
Relevant Standards
The IDA's management of the use of telecommunication products is mainly based on the technical specifications formulated by the IDA. The technical specifications set the minimum technical requirements for the telecommunication equipment intended for sale and use in Singapore.
PSB Certification in Singapore
Mandatory PSB certification is required for regulated electrical products. Before the products enter Singapore, a company with a tax registration in Singapore must act as the certificate holder for the PSB certification application (Our company can provide a Singaporean company to serve as the certificate holder for the PSB certification application). Only after the products obtain the PSB certification can they be sold in Singapore.
