The EU: The Annex 17 list (Entry 47) of (EC) No 1907/2006 (i.e., the REACH regulation) stipulates that for products with leather parts, if the hexavalent chromium concentration in the leather part (calculated based on the dry weight of the leather) is ≥ 3 mg/kg (0.0003%), the product shall not be placed on the market. Under Article 72 of Annex 17, the mainly restricted products are clothing or related accessories, textiles (which have contact with human skin to a similar extent as clothing), and footwear, with a limit of 1 mg/kg.
