EU Textile Testing Requirements

EU REACH Regulation: All non - food products within the EU, such as raw hides, artificial leathers, clothes, shoes, etc.

  • Service Background

Although there are no specific product standards for textiles in the European market, it doesn't mean that textile products are not regulated. The number of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) under the EU REACH has increased from 174 to 219 in just a few years.

For textile export enterprises, ensuring that products contain no restricted chemical substances and meet the requirements of textile safety - related regulations in Europe and the United States has become a major concern.

RTS Testing provides testing services related to European textile safety, such as EU REACH/SVHC, flammability, sharp points and edges, small parts, and cordage testing. Our aim is to solve problems for textile export enterprises, improve the compliance of your products in the European and American markets, and reduce the risks of market recalls and penalties.

There are many regulations related to textile and clothing products in the EU. Before 2009, most of the EU's control requirements for harmful substances were issued in the form of directives, such as 2005/84/EC (Azo Directive), 2009/425/EC (Organotin Directive), 2006/122/EC (PFOS Directive), etc. In June 2009, these related directives were incorporated into Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation. In addition, finished textile and clothing products also need to meet the requirements of SVHC.
