Australian Toys AS/NZS ISO 8124

On February 12, 2021, the Standards Australia released the toy safety standard AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2021 "Toy Safety - Part 3: Migration of Certain Elements".
This standard was developed by the Joint Technical Committee CS-018 - the Children's Toy Safety Group. It replaces AS/NZS 8124.3:2012 and AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2012 Amd 1:2016.
This standard is equivalent to ISO 8124-3:2020 Toy Safety - Part 3: Migration of Certain Elements.

Compared with the previous versions AS/NZS 8124.3:2012 and AS/NZS ISO 8124.3:2012 Amd 1:2016, the main changes are as follows:

• Two new detailed wax removal methods (Soxhlet extraction method and solvent extraction method) are added and replace the original method;
• The element analysis methods are specified: Element analysis can be carried out using ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS or other appropriate methods, and an ICP-OES method is provided for reference;
• The definitions of "paper" and "cardboard" are changed: According to the new standard, cardboard or paperboard with a mass per unit area exceeding 400 g/m² will fall under the definition of "cardboard".
